About a week and a half ago I got a text from David who was at the park playing disc golf asking if I wanted a kitty. Well, duh.

Before moving we had decided that we would be adding a kitty to our family. I love cats, and so does Lily. So when I got the text I immediately grabbed up Lily (who had no pants or shoes on, I have never in her life taken her out without pants, but felt guilty and ran back in for a pair of shorts and sandals) and drove to the park. The whole drive Lily was seriously sitting in her car seat spilling about her love for kittens until all she could do was sit back there and meow. She was ecstatic.

We got to the park (and it was a rainy day) and David handed over a wet kitty whom I loved immediately. Lily and I brought her home and got her dry, gave her some water, and loved on her. My god, I'm a sucker for kittens.

When David returned home, he told us how he won her trust with sunflower seeds, and that her name would be Sunflower. He's such a schmuck; I love him.

Sunflower (who's name is really just Kitty; Sunflower is for show) was originally to be an outdoor kitty, but we're all schmucks and she's totally indoors now. She kinda won the kitty lottery, but so did we.

She is the best tempered cat on the face of the planet. She has some of that funny kitty energy, but is really mellow, even for a cat. For example, on her second day David gave her a bath and she didn't fight him. Nuts.

So, we have a new family member now. I'll be calling today to set her up a vet appointment to get checked out so we can make it official.

We love Sunflower Kitty.
