I love leather cuffs. I have had a leather cuff attached to my wrist almost everyday for years. My first leather cuff was made from an old leather belt that had been cut down and had a snap installed. It was perfect and I wore it until I couldn't anymore.
About a year and a half ago I purchased a new cuff from tovicorrie on Etsy. Though it is a beautiful cuff, the quality of leather was not stellar, and the pretty design didn't stay so pretty for very long. Water made the ink run. I know, I know, don't get it wet, but there are a gazillion and a half times a week that I'd go wash my hands and a second too late remember that I had the cuff on, and by then a droplet has splattered. I really love this cuff, but after months and months of droplets, it was looking kind of murky.
Several weeks ago we were strolling through the farmer's market when David dragged me over to a booth that's there every week but we'd never visited. A leather booth. And I'd always just strolled right by. David ordered a custom braided cuff for himself, and after looking at this fabulous man's wares, I ordered a custom cuff for myself too.
And it's perfect. It's good, quality, thick leather, and the design's not inked, but stamped. It has a beautiful finish of a dark brown that is black in the stamping, so I can (and do) wear it with absolutely anything.
I really love this cuff, enough that I simply had to share, and will be ordering some Christmas gifts from the leather man tomorrow morning. He's a perfectly pleasant man with a pony tail and long scruffy beard who has promised to give my new cuff a good oil down if I ever feel it needs it. Just the type of person I like to support in my shop-local endeavors.
